Over one-third of all people in the world are either overweight or obese according to a new study from the Lancet. This is a drastic increase since 1980, when around 30 percent of all people in the world were overweight.   Being overweight is defined as having a body-mass index (BMI) of 25 kg/m2 or greater. For a person who is 5' 6" this means weighing less than 160 pounds. If you are 6' tall you should try to bring your weight to under 190 pounds.   This is a worrying sign, considering all the health risks associating with being overweight.

We have added a new section to our site: a special page that just contains news and information relating to dieting and weight loss. You can find it by going to: You will continue to receive samples of the updates on Facebook (if you like our page), but the only way to get the complete information is to visit our site. The page will contain advice on dieting and losing weight, as well as news and information on weight loss from the medical community.

(Image ©moonberry on deviantART) Its been a couple of days since we posted, and we apologize. Things having been very hectic here. Robert S. Tomchik, M.D. married Amelia Triana on Saturday at the Church of the Little Flower. So not surprisingly, we have been very busy. The doctor will be on his honeymoon this week. He'll be around next week, but he will not be seeing patients unless it is an emergency. Our office will stay open and you will be able to see Gaielle Maher, P.A., our exceptionally talented physician assistant.

(Image provided courtesy of TheDrake92) As you have probably noticed we have a brand new website. Unfortunately, it's large and takes a fair amount of time to load on a phone. So pretty soon we will be unveiling a new mobile site. Keep checking in.

In our attempt to continually improve your experience at Health Circle we have designed this new website. We hope you take a few minutes to explore it and let us know what you think by sending us a comment or two. We'll see you at the office.
